About
Pōhai Nu‘uhiwa Campbell is a highly regarded trusts and estates attorney whose practice covers estate planning, probate, trust administration, and litigation involving estate disputes. She works with families and individuals to develop strategies that protect assets, guide administration, and resolve conflicts with skill and cultural sensitivity.
Pōhai completed her B.S. at Winthrop University, graduating summa cum laude as class valedictorian while leading the Division I women’s volleyball team as captain. Following four years of teaching at Kamehameha Schools, she earned her J.D., cum laude, from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawai‘i, where she also received a Native Hawaiian Language Certificate and recognition for her academic achievements.
Pōhai strengthened her legal foundation by clerking for Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court and Judge Gary W. B. Chang of the Circuit Court of the First Circuit. She also gained valuable experience as a judicial extern to Justice Sabrina S. McKenna of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court and Judge Dexter D. Del Rosario, retired. These roles provided her with unique insight into both trial and appellate matters.
Pōhai’s work has been honored with multiple awards, including recognition in Hawaii Business Magazine’s Emerging Legal Stars (2024) and Pacific Business News’ “40 Under 40” Class of 2022. She also received the Empowering ʻŌiwi Leadership Award from the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, was named in Best Lawyers® Ones to Watch (2021), and completed the Hawai‘i State Bar Association Leadership Institute Fellowship in 2020. Earlier in her legal studies, she earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Federal Indian Law.
With her deep knowledge, cultural grounding, and dedication to client service, Pōhai Nu‘uhiwa Campbell provides trusted guidance to individuals and families navigating complex estate matters.
