About
Philip A. Nicholas is a partner at Nicholas & Tangeman, LLC and an accomplished trial lawyer with more than four decades of courtroom experience. His practice focuses on wrongful death, personal injury, and complex commercial litigation, including cases involving contracts, construction, finance, environmental, and natural resources disputes. He is widely recognized for his leadership and legal expertise.
Philip earned his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and subsequently completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Wyoming College of Law. He is admitted to practice in Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon, as well as before multiple U.S. District Courts, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His peers have honored him with an AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell and recognition by Super Lawyers®.
Philip is a past president of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association and currently serves as a Commissioner for the Uniform Law Commission. He previously held numerous leadership roles during his twenty years in the Wyoming Legislature, including Senate President, Majority Floor Leader, and Vice President. His legislative service included chairing the Appropriations Committee and contributing to the Judicial Reorganization Committee, which helped shape Wyoming’s current court system.
Beyond his trial and legislative work, Philip has served his community through leadership positions on the Albany County Hospital Board of Trustees, the Laramie Chamber of Commerce, Hospice of Laramie, and the Albany County Planning Commission. He also co-founded the Laramie Beautification Committee.
Through his litigation practice, legislative contributions, and civic involvement, Philip A. Nicholas has built a distinguished career dedicated to advancing both the law and his community.
