Peter M. King

Peter M. King is a founding partner of King & Jones in Chicago, Illinois. He represents businesses, owners, professionals, and other clients in complex commercial disputes before judges, juries, and arbitrators across the United States. His practice includes breach of contract, fiduciary duty, partnership, shareholder, corporate, real estate, insurance, and business tort litigation. Peter also handles accounting malpractice, legal malpractice, trust and estate disputes, arbitration, and appeals.

Peter earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1982, where he served on the National Trial Advocacy Team. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1978. Peter also attended the Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, in 2010. His legal and financial education supports his ability to analyze complicated records, evaluate business losses, and present detailed commercial cases clearly.

Peter has litigated and tried business disputes in courts and arbitration proceedings throughout the country. His experience covers conflicts involving contracts, corporate relationships, real estate transactions, insurance coverage, professional negligence, and the duties owed by partners, shareholders, officers, and fiduciaries. As an Illinois-certified public accountant, he brings additional financial insight to cases involving accounting practices, business valuation concerns, damages, and other issues requiring close examination of financial evidence.

Peter M. King has practiced law in Illinois since 1982 and is admitted to federal court and the United States Supreme Court. He belongs to the American Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Forbes Business Council. He also authored an article on obtaining justice for wrongfully imprisoned individuals for ABA Litigation Magazine.
