Peter D. Lowe is a partner at Brann & Isaacson and a trusted advisor to leading employers in Maine. He focuses on employment law, public sector law, education law, and corporate and municipal governance. Known for his sound judgment and ability to navigate high-stakes issues, Peter provides practical legal counseling that balances legal risk with public perception and business goals.
Peter earned his L.L.B. from the University of Birmingham, England, in 1983 with a 2/1 degree. He went on to complete his legal training at the College of Law in Chester, England, in 1984.
Peter is the go-to employment counsel for many of Maine’s best-known employers, including L.L.Bean. He advises on all aspects of the employment relationship, such as employment contracts, severance agreements, workforce reorganizations, and non-compete agreements. Peter also regularly counsels executives, municipal leaders, and school officials on corporate governance, personnel and HR issues, fiduciary duties, risk management, and compliance with freedom of access and public records laws.
In addition to his advisory work, Peter has successfully defended numerous claims involving harassment, discrimination, and wrongful discharge. He is also a trusted outside investigator, called upon to conduct complex and sensitive workplace investigations.
Peter D. Lowe is admitted to practice in Maine, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First and Eleventh Circuits. He is an active member of several Bar associations, including the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association. As editor of the Maine Employment Law Letter, he contributes regularly to state and national HR publications.
