Paul J. James is a seasoned trial attorney with more than 35 years of experience representing clients across a wide range of legal matters. His practice is focused on litigation, personal injury, civil rights, product liability, negligence, wrongful death, criminal defense, and commercial litigation. Known for his dedication and courtroom skills, he has built a career centered on advocating for individuals and businesses facing significant legal challenges.
Mr. James earned his B.A. in 1979 from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and his J.D. in 1982 from the University of Arkansas Leflar Law Center. He began his career working alongside former United States Attorney W.H. “Sonny” Dillahunty, where he gained valuable trial experience that laid the foundation for his litigation practice. In 1986, he co-founded his law firm, where he has continued to provide client-focused representation for decades.
A significant portion of Mr. James’ practice is devoted to representing individuals injured in catastrophic accidents, including cases involving traumatic brain injuries, paralysis, and wrongful death. He has also handled civil rights cases, litigating constitutional violations against government entities on behalf of individuals and class action plaintiffs. His criminal defense work includes representing clients in state and federal courts, with particular emphasis on white collar cases involving government fraud, including Medicare and Medicaid fraud.
In addition, Paul J. James has extensive experience in commercial litigation, representing automobile dealerships and other businesses in contractual and business disputes. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting the highest level of legal skill and ethical standards. Active in numerous professional organizations, he has served in leadership roles, including as a founding member and past president of the St. Thomas More Society of Arkansas.
