Patrick W. Begos is a Partner at Robinson+Cole with offices in Stamford, Connecticut and New York. He is a trial and appellate lawyer who represents administrators and insurers of life, health, and disability benefit plans. Mr. Begos co-chairs the firm’s Managed Care + ERISA Litigation group and helps clients address benefit disputes, claim procedures, regulatory obligations, and litigation strategy in courts across the country.
Mr. Begos earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was an H.F.S. Scholar and participated in the Accelerated Interdisciplinary Legal Education Program. He received a B.A. in Psychology from The Johns Hopkins University. His education supports a practice grounded in legal analysis, appellate advocacy, and practical problem-solving in complex benefit, insurance, and commercial disputes.
Mr. Begos has litigated hundreds of ERISA benefit and retirement fund disputes, including many appeals. He prevailed in Heimeshoff v. Hartford Life & Accident Insurance Co., a U.S. Supreme Court case involving enforceability of time limits for benefit lawsuits. His experience also includes non-ERISA benefit claims, managed care disputes, high-value arbitral matters, insurance litigation, and commercial disputes with significant financial stakes.
