Patrick L. Woodward

Patrick L. Woodward is a trial attorney known for decades of litigation experience and a strong commitment to protecting the rights of clients in complex disputes involving workers’ compensation, insurance matters, employment law, and civil litigation. Pat earned his B.A. from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, in 1979. He later received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in Iowa City, Iowa in 1983, graduating with distinction. His academic background provided the legal foundation that shaped his long career in courtroom advocacy and dispute resolution.

Pat previously served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy JAGC from 1983 to 1986. This early legal experience strengthened his litigation skills and discipline. After returning to civilian practice, he concentrated on trial work and workers’ compensation cases, steadily building a reputation for handling demanding legal disputes.

Pat focuses his legal practice on litigation involving workers’ compensation, insurance law, and employment law matters. He has also worked on cases involving personal injury and wrongful death, professional negligence, and personal injury defense. Throughout his career, he has tried more than 200 jury disputes in court.

Pat is recognized by peers as an accomplished trial attorney and has been selected to the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, an organization limited to a small group of experienced litigators. He is also active in professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, Iowa Defense Counsel Association, and the American Association of Justice.

Patrick L. Woodward is also a certified mediator through the University of Texas Center for Conflict Resolution. His mediation training allows him to help parties reach practical resolutions when possible while remaining prepared for trial. Patrick continues to advocate for clients by combining courtroom experience with thoughtful dispute resolution strategies.
