About
Paisley Newsome is a Birmingham attorney and partner whose practice focuses on Federal Black Lung benefits, workers’ compensation, personal injury, and Social Security Disability. She represents injured workers and individuals seeking benefits after occupational illness or serious health-related work disruptions. Her background includes representing both individuals and institutional defendants. This experience gives her perspective on the procedures and arguments that arise when a claim is challenged by an employer or insurance carrier.
Paisley earned a B.M. from Berry College in 2002 and a Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2007. She was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2007 and the Alabama Bar in 2014. Her training supports courtroom advocacy and work within administrative benefit systems. These skills are relevant to claims in which medical records, workplace history, eligibility rules, and evidence must be evaluated together.
Paisley started as a solo attorney in Georgia handling family law and criminal defense. After relocating to Alabama, she practiced civil defense for employers and insurers before turning to representation of injured workers. She joined her present practice in 2017. Her work now includes claims involving black lung disease, workplace injuries, and denied disability benefits. She has experience with jury and bench trials in both Georgia and Alabama.
Paisley Newsome uses her earlier defense experience to understand how employers and insurers evaluate and contest claims. She also provides consultation on railroad law and worker safety protections. She focuses on explaining complicated benefit processes to clients dealing with the financial and legal effects of an injury or illness. Her practice combines civil litigation experience with knowledge of workers’ compensation, disability claims, and federal benefits programs.
