Norman Brownstein is Founder and Chairman of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. He has shaped government relations and public policy work for more than four decades. His practice focuses on solving client problems through advocacy, bipartisan work, and careful planning across business, health care, tax, telecom, and public policy matters.

Norman earned a B.S. from the University of Colorado in 1965 and a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 1968. He is admitted in Colorado and is affiliated with the American Bar Association and Colorado Bar Association, supporting a long career in law and public service.

Norman’s honors include National Law Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award, The Hill’s Top Lobbyists list, University of Colorado Boulder’s University Medal, University of Colorado Law School’s William Lee Knous Award, National Jewish Health’s Arthur B. Lorber Award, American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) Lamplighter Award, and Mizel Museum’s Community Cultural Enrichment Award.

Norman opened the firm’s Washington, D.C., government relations office in 1995. It began with two policy professionals and a few sublet cubicles. Since then, it has grown into a large bipartisan practice. Since 2021, the firm has ranked number one nationally in lobbying revenue in the U.S.

Norman has worked on federal laws across six administrations. His policy work spans tax, telecom, financial services, private equity, real estate, trusts, banks, private credit, insurers, health care, and education. He has also helped secure funding for hospitals, doctors, cancer research, respiratory research, transportation projects, and Denver International Airport.

Norman Brownstein continues to help companies and organizations plan and carry out public policy goals. Known for strong advocacy and practical problem-solving, he brings long experience to complex matters. His work reflects a steady focus on clients, public service, bipartisan relationships, and solutions that can shape business and communities.
