Nicolas Chavez is the managing partner and co-founder of Chavez & Valko, LLP, where he leads the firm’s immigration law practice with over two decades of dedicated experience. Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he represents individuals securing lawful status and citizenship, including high-profile clients and artists.

Nicolas earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice with honors from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1997 and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2001. While in law school, Nicolas trained in the university’s immigration clinic under the late Professor Joseph Vail, gaining firsthand experience in representing immigrant clients and advocating for their legal rights.

Nicolas has litigated cases in immigration courts, federal appellate courts, and the Board of Immigration Appeals. He served for seven years on the Amicus Curiae Committee of AILA and was appointed as a legal advisor to the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas. He frequently lectures and publishes on immigration law, bringing national visibility to emerging legal issues.

Nicolas Chavez’s work has earned him numerous accolades, including recognition in The Best Lawyers in America® for Immigration Law (2024) and the designation as a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters (2022).
