Natanya DeWeese

Natanya DeWeese is a member of Shaw & Murphy, PLLC, in Ithaca, New York. A significant part of her practice involves representing college students, faculty, and staff in disciplinary matters, including Title IX proceedings, student conduct allegations, and academic integrity issues. She also practices in family law, civil litigation, estate planning, residential and commercial real estate, and other general legal matters. Her work addresses both disputes and planning needs.

DeWeese earned her law degree from Cornell Law School in 2012 with a concentration in Advocacy. She received a B.S. in Policy Analysis & Management from Cornell University in 2009, graduating with distinction. She also served as managing editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy. This academic background supports her work in legal research, advocacy, and complex client matters.

After law school, she clerked for the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, Fourth Department, where she worked on criminal, civil, and family court appeals. She later worked in private practice in Rochester before joining Shaw & Murphy in 2015. Her practice has since expanded to contested and uncontested divorce, appeals, personal injury, estate administration, employment law, business law, and real estate transactions.

Natanya DeWeese became a member of Shaw & Murphy in 2021. She draws on her appellate clerkship and broad general practice experience when assessing complex disputes and explaining available courses of action. Her representation of college communities is an important part of her work, alongside services for individuals and businesses handling transactions, family matters, planning, and litigation.
