Natalie Alane

Natalie Alane is a Michigan family law attorney and founding partner at Alane Family Law, P.C., with nearly two decades of experience handling divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, paternity, postjudgment matters, and appeals. She offers clients several paths toward resolution, including negotiation, mediation, Collaborative practice, and litigation. Her approach emphasizes dignity, informed decision-making, and practical solutions while remaining prepared to protect clients’ interests through hearings, trials, and appellate proceedings when courtroom advocacy becomes necessary in every case.

Natalie earned her B.A., cum laude, in voice performance and sociology from Central Michigan University. She later completed an M.A. in A.B.T. in rural sociology at the University of Kentucky before receiving her J.D., magna cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Her education strengthened her research, writing, advocacy, and analytical skills, providing a strong foundation for resolving complex family disputes involving property, support, parenting concerns, procedural issues, and statewide practice.

Natalie began her legal career serving Michigan appellate courts, including work for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Michael F. Cavanagh and Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Stephen L. Borrello. She also worked in the Court of Appeals Research Division and provided legal research and writing services to attorneys. Her background includes teaching family law, moot court, scholarly writing, and advanced legal writing, along with publishing and presenting on family law topics.

Natalie Alane is active in the State Bar of Michigan, Ingham County Bar Association, and several family law and Collaborative practice organizations. She founded a local Collaborative practice group, served in leadership roles within the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan, and contributes to legal education.
