Nadia Yakoob

Nadia Yakoob is the founding and managing attorney of Nadia Yakoob & Associates in Oakland, California. She has practiced U.S. immigration law since 2000 and advises individuals and businesses on temporary and permanent employment-based visas, family-based immigration, asylum, removal relief, and citizenship. Yakoob works primarily with startups, emerging companies, investors, and entrepreneurs, helping clients identify immigration strategies for working, building businesses, and establishing permanent residence in the United States.

Yakoob earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2000, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal. She received an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics in 1998 and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was also a Fulbright scholar at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, adding an international perspective to her immigration law background.

Yakoob began her legal career at a major immigration law firm, working for eight years in its New York, Brussels, and San Francisco offices. She later served for five years as a staff attorney in the immigration group at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. There, she reviewed challenges to final removal orders and prepared recommendations for panels of federal judges considering immigration appeals.

Nadia Yakoob has worked on behalf of immigrants and refugees since 1994 and brings both private-practice and federal appellate experience to her work. Her practice helps employers and foreign nationals address employment visas, permanent residence, family immigration, asylum, removal proceedings, naturalization, and immigration compliance. By combining extensive immigration experience with an understanding of business and individual needs, Yakoob helps clients navigate complex U.S. immigration procedures and pursue appropriate paths for living and working in the country.
