N. Kane Bennett is a Connecticut and Massachusetts attorney focused on business litigation, trials, transactions, and general counsel work. He represents individuals, business owners, operators, buyers, and sellers in disputes and deals, using courtroom experience and practical planning to help clients protect companies, resolve conflicts, and avoid costly problems.
Kane earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating cum laude and serving on Law Review. He also attended the University of Connecticut. His admissions include Connecticut, Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court District of Connecticut, the U.S. District Court District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals 2nd Circuit.
Kane began his career as a prosecutor and tried his first jury case on the day he passed the bar exam. Over more than 20 years, he has handled jury and non-jury trials, questioned hundreds of witnesses under oath, and built strong experience in investigation, evidence, and courtroom strategy.
Kane later practiced at one of Connecticut’s largest litigation and trial firms, where he worked with veteran attorneys on civil litigation matters. His cases have included breach of fiduciary duty claims, employment disputes, shareholder rights, trade secret protection, dissolution proceedings, minority and majority shareholder disputes, and health care business conflicts.
Kane also assists small market businesses and health care practices with transactional needs. His work includes master services agreements, corporate formation and structuring, technology licensing and purchasing, management and financing agreements, mergers and acquisitions, business sales, and business purchases, helping clients make informed decisions before disputes arise.
Kane is AV Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and received the Super Lawyer designation for business litigation from 2014 to 2022. He authored the business torts section of a Connecticut civil discovery book, wrote “How to Bulletproof Your Business, Ten Tips from Ten Years of Business Disputes,” and publishes the Connecticut Business Litigation Blog.
