Monica K. Gilroy

Monica K. Gilroy is a founding principal and managing partner of The Gilroy Firm, bringing over 25 years of legal experience. She earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin and a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Ms. Gilroy also studied abroad at Ealing College of Higher Education in England.

Ms. Gilroy’s national litigation practice covers all real estate cases, including property management, fair housing, foreclosure, title disputes, broker liability, and civil and commercial contract disputes. She also leads the firm’s Default Department, which handles foreclosure, bankruptcy, loss mitigation, and eviction for national and local banks, mortgage companies, and real estate firms. She advises closing attorneys, property managers, brokers, and title companies on title and contract issues.

Ms. Gilroy serves as litigation liaison and counsel for leading financial institutions, overseeing complex, nationwide bankruptcy litigation programs. She brings extensive trial experience, with hundreds of jury and bench trials, arbitrations, and mediations to her credit. Based in Georgia, she regularly appears in state and federal courts, including appellate courts, and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Ms. Gilroy is a recognized leader in her field. She is the immediate past Chair of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. She writes for major legal publications, including the ABA’s Foreclosure Law and Related Remedies. She is a Georgia Super Lawyer in real estate and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Besides her litigation work, Ms. Gilroy speaks nationally on real estate and litigation topics. She educates attorneys, brokers, and real estate professionals. Her expertise and leadership have earned her prominent roles. These include drafting an Amicus Brief for the American Land Title Association and helping with national education initiatives.
