Miriam Hiser is a trial lawyer. She has 36 years of experience. She represents individuals and businesses in commercial and bankruptcy litigation. Her practice spans state and federal courts. It includes extensive trial and appellate work in California’s Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts. Miriam has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. Her work contributed to many reported decisions.

Miriam earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1987. There, she joined The Littlefield Society. She is also a 1983 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wesleyan University, reflecting her strong academic foundation.

Miriam’s expertise is in commercial litigation. It includes contract disputes, receivership appointments, construction defects, product liability, and insurance claims. In bankruptcy cases, she represents creditors in various hearings and motions. This includes hearings on adversary and cash collateral matters, plan confirmations, and motions to lift the stay. She obtained big settlements and judgments. These include a $1.7 million tax refund from the City of San Francisco after an eight-day trial. She also secured a $450,000 bankruptcy payment for a client.

Before founding her firm in 1999, Miriam honed her skills in complex multi-party litigation. She was a partner at Marron Reid LLP and an associate at Bingham (now part of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP). Her trial experience includes both jury and bench trials, making her a trusted advocate in high-stakes legal disputes.

Miriam is a recognized leader in her field. She often lectures on bankruptcy and litigation for bar associations, including the California Bankruptcy Forum and the ABA. Her legal acumen and commitment to professional excellence are widely respected.

Miriam’s decades of experience and trial success make her a strong commercial and bankruptcy law advocate. Her focus on clients helps, too.
