Minchul Yang

Minchul Yang is a registered U.S. patent attorney with strong experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property strategy. He works across complex technical fields, helping clients secure and manage patents that support innovation. His work focuses on building solid patent portfolios that strengthen business growth and protect new technologies.

Minchul earned a B.S. in chemical engineering/technology from Seoul National University, Korea, and an M.S. in physical chemistry from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Korea. He later completed a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.

Minchul has extensive technical knowledge covering semiconductor devices, sensors, mechanical systems, and biological technologies. His legal work connects science and law, allowing him to guide clients through complex patent matters. He focuses on helping individuals and companies protect their ideas while supporting long-term innovation and commercial success.

Minchul spent nine years working as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. During this time, he handled more than 1,000 patent applications across different technical areas. His role involved reviewing inventions, applying patent laws, and ensuring proper examination standards were followed throughout the process.

Minchul also contributed to examiner training and policy guidance. He helped others understand patent law, claim interpretation, and effective research methods. His work included preparing detailed responses for appeals and supporting consistent examination practices, which strengthened the overall review process for patent applications.

Minchul gained research experience through postdoctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the Naval Research Laboratory. His scientific work covered areas such as surface chemistry and molecular electronics. He has also written or contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications in respected scientific journals.
