Mike Butash

Mike Butash is a Tampa Bay attorney with a practice focused on criminal defense, DUI, personal injury, and family law. With more than two decades of legal experience, he represents clients facing serious legal challenges, providing strategic counsel, thorough preparation, and committed advocacy at every stage of the legal process.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology with honors from Florida State University before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1997, establishing a strong academic and professional foundation for trial-focused legal practice.

Mike began his career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, where he prosecuted cases in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. He advanced through the ranks from misdemeanor prosecutions to handling the most serious felony cases, gaining extensive courtroom and trial experience early in his career.

After serving as in-house counsel for a national insurance company, Mike transitioned to private practice and founded his own firm in 2002. Since then, he has defended thousands of clients in matters ranging from first-degree felonies to misdemeanor offenses, including DUI and domestic-related charges.

Mike’s legal experience includes serving as lead counsel in more than forty jury trials and acting as primary counsel in thousands of criminal cases. He is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts and has completed advanced training programs in prosecutorial and trial advocacy.
