About
Michelle R. H. Frechette is the lead and primary attorney of Frechette & Associates, PC, where she focuses on criminal defense. She has worked as a private defense attorney since 1993, with particular emphasis on DWI cases. Her practice also includes juvenile matters. She represents people facing criminal charges while considering the legal, procedural, and personal issues that can shape an effective defense.
Frechette earned a J.D. from Vermont Law School in 1989 and a B.A. from St. Lawrence University in 1986. She has continued her professional education through criminal defense and DWI programs, including national conferences addressing scientific evidence and field sobriety testing. This ongoing training supports her analysis of developing defense theories and technical evidence in New Mexico cases.
Frechette has a background that includes work as a prosecutor and public defender, as well as private defense practice. She previously served as a special prosecutor for the Village of Corrales and held attorney positions with the City of Rio Rancho and City of Albuquerque. Those roles give her experience with criminal matters from several perspectives, which she applies to DWI, juvenile, and other defense cases.
Michelle R. H. Frechette has spoken at legal education programs for attorneys and judges and has served as a part-time municipal judge for the Village of Corrales. She participates in criminal defense professional organizations and community service through Rotary youth programs. She combines decades of defense experience with attention to each client’s circumstances and goals.
