Michael R. Huston is a nationally recognized appellate attorney with a strong record in complex litigation and high-profile appeals. He has argued 11 cases before the Supreme Court of the United States and won numerous matters in both federal and state appellate courts. His focus is on strategy-driven, high-risk legal issues.
Michael earned his B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Arizona, graduating summa cum laude in 2007. He then received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2011, where he graduated magna cum laude and served on the Michigan Law Review. He also earned Order of the Coif honors.
Michael previously served as Assistant to the Solicitor General at the U.S. Department of Justice. In that role, he represented the federal government before the Supreme Court, preparing briefs and delivering arguments in a wide range of significant matters. He was the lead author of seven successful petitions for writs of certiorari.
Michael has clerked for two respected judges: Chief Justice John G. Roberts of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Raymond Kethledge of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. These prestigious clerkships further strengthened his knowledge of appellate practice and judicial decision-making.
Michael is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Arizona, and numerous federal appellate courts, including all U.S. Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court. He brings this vast courtroom experience to bear in every matter he handles, often in sensitive or bet-the-company disputes involving regulatory or constitutional questions.
