Michael R. Annis is a seasoned intellectual property attorney with over 25 years of experience protecting critical business assets and information for clients across various industries. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he earned his J.D. with high honors, Michael also holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. His robust academic foundation and practical expertise make him a trusted business advisor navigating complex intellectual property matters.

Michael focuses his practice on patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, trademark and service mark disputes, unfair competition, and false advertising claims. He represents clients in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, cannabis, construction equipment, and consumer products. As the leader of the firm’s Animal Health & Production team and co-leader of the Alcohol & Beverage team, he brings a deep understanding of industry-specific legal and regulatory challenges.

Michael’s primary work involves defending and prosecuting claims of trade secret misappropriation and patent infringement in civil courts and handling post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His expertise extends to alcohol beverage labeling regulations under the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. Additionally, he frequently represents clients in consumer class actions and trademark disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
