Michael L. Lipman

Michael L. Lipman is a trial lawyer at Duane Morris LLP with more than 40 years of experience handling criminal and civil cases in state and federal courts. He focuses on white-collar criminal defense, government investigations, regulatory and licensing matters, health care law, and business litigation. He has tried more than 50 jury cases and represents individuals and entities in matters involving securities fraud, insider trading, healthcare fraud, tax issues, antitrust, corruption, and complex serious financial crimes.

Michael earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School. He received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is admitted in California and New York, along with federal district and appellate courts. His admissions include the Ninth Circuit and Second Circuit. He previously served as an Assistant US Attorney and Chief of the Fraud Unit in the Southern District of California, strengthening his federal enforcement perspective.

Michael has substantial experience conducting internal investigations and handling parallel criminal, civil, and regulatory proceedings. He has represented clients in matters involving the SEC, DOJ, IRS, EPA, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies. His work includes voluntary disclosures, amnesty applications, suspension and debarment proceedings, civil securities cases, RICO matters, False Claims Act cases, and qui tam actions. He also represents clients in complex disputes involving licensing and regulatory compliance.

Michael L. Lipman is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has received recognition for white-collar criminal defense. His professional activities have included the American Bar Association, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. His background as a former federal prosecutor and longtime trial attorney supports his work in high-stakes investigations and litigation.
