Day has practiced law in Western Maryland since 1976, with experience in corporate, real estate, and civil law. Since 1994, his firm has focused on elder law, including estate planning, asset protection, Medicaid issues, and long-term care concerns.
Day is a graduate of Fort Lewis College and the University of Denver Law School. His legal education and long professional background provide a strong foundation for advising individuals and families on planning, property, and asset-related issues. This training supports his ability to evaluate legal risks, explain planning options, and help clients prepare documents and strategies designed to protect their wishes, property, and long-term financial security.
Day assists clients with estate planning, elder law, asset protection, Medicaid planning, trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care directives, retirement planning, and special needs planning. His work often involves helping families plan for long-term care, preserve assets, address benefit eligibility, and prepare for future medical or financial decisions. Through these matters, he helps clients create practical plans for aging, incapacity, estate administration, and family protection.
Michael G. Day is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, a certification not recognized by the State of Maryland. He is also a past member of the Elder Law Section Council of the Maryland Bar and the founder and president of The Family Heritage Trust Company in Frederick.
