Michael Foster is a co-founder of Foster Wallace and a nationally recognized trial attorney with extensive experience litigating personal injury, civil rights, and complex tort cases. With a reputation for delivering major results, he has represented individuals and businesses in high-stakes matters across state and federal courts nationwide.
Michael holds a J.D. cum laude from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law, where he was a member of the UMKC Law Review and a Marvin Rich Scholarship recipient. He earned his B.S. cum laude from Drake University, where he was recognized on the All-Missouri Valley Academic First Team.
Michael’s litigation background includes tenure at one of the nation’s largest law firms, where he secured a $56 million settlement—then the second-largest in Missouri. He later obtained the largest jury verdict in U.S. history for a prisoner’s secondhand smoking case, resulting in a statewide smoking ban in correctional facilities. His track record includes multimillion-dollar results in trucking accidents, wrongful death, discrimination, and Section 1983 claims.
Michael is admitted to practice in Missouri and Kansas, as well as in multiple federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Missouri, the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He has received numerous honors, including Super Lawyers, Rising Stars, the Legal Champion Award, and the Robert C. Welch Pro Bono Award.
Michael Foster frequently speaks at CLE seminars and has co-authored legal publications on class actions, cryptocurrency litigation, and fiduciary liability. His experience on both sides of the courtroom, combined with his courtroom presence and strategic approach, makes him a formidable advocate for clients throughout Missouri and beyond.
