Merritt S. Locke

Merritt S. Locke is a partner at Saunders Kahler L.L.P. with a long and trusted record of guiding corporate and individual clients through complex legal matters. Since beginning her career with the firm in 1994, she has built deep experience in Employment Law and Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Higher Education Law, Business Law, Not-for-Profit Law, and Creditors’ Rights, including bankruptcy. Her approach is practical, transparent, and client-focused, helping organizations and individuals understand their options and move forward with confidence.

Merritt earned a B.A. in Economics from St. Lawrence University and a J.D. from George Washington University. She is admitted to practice in New York State Courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for New York’s  Northern and Southern Districts.

Merritt has helped clients across her career resolve workplace disputes, protect business interests, and navigate the challenges that arise in commercial and employment-related conflicts. She also advises colleges, nonprofits, and community organizations on policies, compliance, operations, and risk management. Her work in creditors’ rights and bankruptcy includes representing clients seeking effective resolutions to financial disputes. Known for her steady guidance and attention to detail, Merritt supports each client with a strong understanding of the law and a commitment to achieving fair and efficient outcomes. She is active in the legal community through her memberships in the Oneida County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Central New York Bankruptcy Bar Association, and the United States District Court for the New York Bar Association’s Northern District of New York.
