About
Megan C. Harris is a family law attorney whose practice centers on resolving complex domestic matters and advocating for the well-being of children and families. Her work includes divorce, parenting disputes, and related litigation, where she approaches each matter with careful analysis, clear communication, and a commitment to responsible legal guidance.
Megan earned her undergraduate degree in 2008 from the University of Illinois, graduating summa cum laude with a major in Psychology. She later received her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign in 2012. During law school, she achieved academic distinction each year.
Megan began building her legal experience through work focused on protecting vulnerable individuals and families. Prior to her current role, she served as an attorney and Guardian ad Litem at the Cook County Public Guardian’s Office, representing children in abuse and neglect proceedings across Chicago area courts with careful advocacy.
Megan practices family law matters throughout DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties and frequently serves as a DuPage County Court-Appointed Guardian ad Litem. She has also shared professional insight through presentations, including the 2013 DuPage Guardian ad Litem training and the 2014 National Business Institute program addressing challenges in family law.
Megan has remained active in professional organizations connected to family law and the legal community. She served as the 2017-2018 Chair of the Family Law Section of the DuPage County Bar Association, organizing the 2018 Guardian ad Litem training and earning a Board of Directors’ Award for that service contribution.
Megan is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers, and the Justinian Society of Lawyers of DuPage County. She also serves on the DuPage County Bar Association Judiciary Committee and was nominated for the Paul Lisnek Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.
Megan C. Harris has also contributed to legal scholarship through an article on jail visitation policies affecting parents and infants published in the 2012 University of Illinois Law Review.
