Meaghan Kelly

Meaghan Kelly is a Providence estate planning attorney whose practice focuses on Rhode Island and Massachusetts estate and trust matters. She advises clients on estate planning, estate and gift tax planning, estate and trust administration, guardianship proceedings, and trustee actions. She also handles contested tax matters and trust modification or reformation proceedings. Her work helps individuals and families structure plans around incapacity, wealth management, tax concerns, and long-term financial goals.

Meaghan earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Delaware in 2002. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2009, where she served as an Articles Editor on the Law Review and participated in the Honors Program. She later earned her LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law in 2011. Her education supports detailed estate and tax planning advice.

Meaghan previously served as Chief of the Rhode Island Estate and Gift Tax Section at the Rhode Island Division of Taxation. She was responsible for auditing estate tax returns filed with the state and also served as Senior Legal Counsel in the Tax Division. She handled contested tax matters for the agency, giving her direct experience with estate tax administration, disputes, regulatory procedures, and issues clients may face during review.

Meaghan Kelly serves as Co-Chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Probate and Trust Committee. She is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Foundation Professional Advisory Council, and she previously served on the Rhode Island Historical Society’s Board of Trustees. She is admitted in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, and the United States Tax Court, supporting her work across estate matters.
