Max A. Keller

Max A. Keller is the founding partner of Keller Criminal Defense Attorneys in Minneapolis. He focuses on defending individuals accused of DWI, sex crimes, drug offenses, and probation violations. Max is known for securing dismissals and favorable outcomes across Minnesota. His practice emphasizes aggressive pre-trial motions and trial excellence.

Max earned his Juris Doctor from American University’s Washington College of Law in 1997 and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College, completed in 1990. After law school, he clerked for three Minnesota Court of Appeals judges, gaining rare insight into judicial reasoning and appellate advocacy.

Max served in the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, prosecuting DWI cases and handling appeals for five years. In 2003, he entered private practice and worked as a part-time public defender before fully dedicating his firm to criminal defense in 2004. His past as a prosecutor gives him a tactical advantage in defending complex criminal charges.

Max A. Keller has tried cases in counties across Minnesota, securing acquittals in both misdemeanor and felony trials. He regularly achieves charge dismissals and reductions prior to trial. His courtroom success and reputation for strategic litigation have earned him membership in the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice, an elite group limited to 50 top defense attorneys.

Max is licensed in Minnesota, Maryland, and several federal courts, including the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
