Matthew McHenry

Matthew McHenry is a highly respected criminal defense attorney with extensive experience representing individuals facing serious charges. As a partner at Levine & McHenry LLC, he has built a reputation for providing strategic, results-driven representation in state and federal courts. Mr. McHenry graduated magna cum laude from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2004, where he concentrated on criminal defense. He was a law review associate editor and worked as a research clerk for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Portland. Before law school, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1997, equipping him with strong analytical skills that enhance his legal practice.

Mr. McHenry began his career at the Law Office of Michael Levine in 2004 before joining Metropolitan Public Defenders, Inc., where he handled hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases. In 2007, he returned to private practice and co-founded Levine & McHenry LLC in 2010. His legal work includes defending clients in complex criminal cases and serving on the Criminal Justice Act Panel, where he represents federal indigent defendants.

Beyond his courtroom advocacy, Matthew McHenry actively contributes to the legal community. He has been a featured speaker at the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (OCDLA) Annual Conference and has authored legal publications, including a chapter in Major Crimes and Defenses. He is a member of the Oregon State Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
