Matthew Lawrence

Matthew Lawrence is an attorney whose practice focuses on Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury matters. Matthew earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon before continuing his legal education. He received his Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law, where he graduated with honors. Prior to attending law school, he worked in public policy and government affairs, serving in the Oregon Legislative Assembly as a Policy Analyst and later as a Legislative Director. He also operated a consulting firm and served on the board of directors of a national non-profit organization, gaining valuable leadership and policy experience.

Matthew developed practical legal skills through several clerkship opportunities while in law school. He worked with the Marion County Circuit Court, Marion County Veteran’s Court, and the Oregon Department of Justice, Child Advocacy Section. During his time with the Oregon Department of Justice, he was given the opportunity to represent the State of Oregon in termination of parental rights trials, providing firsthand courtroom experience early in his legal career.

Matthew began practicing law by representing Oregon workers in Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury matters. In that role, he successfully handled numerous cases at the hearing level, Board review level, and in personal injury jury trials. His career later expanded to representing insurers, employers, cities, and counties in Workers’ Compensation and employment-related matters. This experience provided a broad understanding of claim evaluation, case strategy, and the factors that influence decision-making within the workers’ compensation system.

Matthew Lawrence brings together experience from public service, litigation, and workers’ compensation practice to advocate for individuals facing difficult legal challenges. His background on both sides of the workers’ compensation process allows him to approach cases with insight and perspective.
