About

Matt Ludt is the founder and a senior attorney at Atticus Family Law, a Minnesota firm focused on family law and divorce matters. He helps clients navigate significant family transitions involving divorce, custody and parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, high net worth divorce, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and related proceedings. His approach combines strategic legal advocacy with practical planning and client support, particularly when financial issues, children, or long-term family arrangements make a case more complex.

Matt received his law degree from the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University, where he participated in the school’s trial advocacy program. Before law school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and studied economics, political science, and public communication. His education in advocacy, public policy, and economics supports his ability to evaluate the legal and financial dimensions of family disputes and to prepare cases for negotiation, evidentiary hearings, mediation, or trial when necessary.

Matt began private practice after returning to the Upper Midwest and founded M.E. Ludt, LLC before refining his practice around family law. In 2012, he established Atticus Family Law with a focus on helping clients through divorce and custody matters using strategic advocacy, planning, and client coaching. His practice addresses both courtroom procedure and negotiated solutions, including trials, contested motion hearings, mediations, evaluations, and settlement discussions that affect property, support, parenting arrangements, and future family stability.

Matt Ludt has built his practice around careful preparation, clear communication, and attention to the long-term effects of family law decisions. He works with clients facing emotionally and financially important transitions and helps them understand the legal process, available options, and likely consequences of different strategies. By combining trial training with a practical approach to negotiation and planning, Matt helps families move through difficult disputes while keeping future needs and workable outcomes in view.
