Martin J. Cosgrove, Jr. is a trial attorney and member of Abram, Gulab & Hutchison in Georgetown, Delaware. He represents clients in serious criminal matters, including homicide cases, and brings more than 25 years of courtroom experience to his defense practice. Martin draws on decades spent handling complex prosecutions to evaluate evidence, anticipate government strategies, and provide practical guidance to individuals facing life-changing criminal charges.

Martin earned his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law in 1997 after receiving his B.A. from the University of Delaware in 1994. He was admitted to practice in Delaware and Maryland in 1998 and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in 1999. His legal education and extensive trial training support a disciplined approach to case preparation, legal analysis, and courtroom advocacy.

Before entering his current practice, Martin spent most of his career as a Deputy Attorney General with the Delaware Department of Justice. He prosecuted matters ranging from DUI and misdemeanors to violent felonies and homicides and became a capital-qualified prosecutor. His leadership roles included Chief Prosecutor of Sussex County and head of several trial, sex crimes, felony screening, and misdemeanor units. He also served on the Sussex County Homicide Committee and trained law enforcement officers across Delaware.

Martin J. Cosgrove, Jr. received the Delaware Department of Justice Distinguished Deputy Attorney General Award and the Delaware State Police Superintendent’s Certificate of Commendation. He has also supported legal education and community service through moot court programs and seven years on the Sussex Academy School Board.
