Mark T. Drooks

Mark T. Drooks is a partner at Bird Marella and an accomplished civil litigator focusing on complex business litigation, securities matters, real estate disputes, and law firm defense. He has led more than 50 civil trials and arbitrations to decision and argued appeals before state and federal courts, including the California Supreme Court.

Mr. Drooks earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he contributed to the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. He received his A.B., cum laude, from Cornell University in 1978 and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, recognizing his academic excellence and commitment to legal scholarship.

Throughout his career, Mr. Drooks has represented clients in breach-of-contract, business tort, partnership, consumer protection class-action, and securities litigation matters. He is frequently retained to represent law firms, lawyers, and professionals in malpractice and partnership matters, handling cases through trial, summary judgment, and appeal.

Mr. Drooks’ commitment to justice extends to impactful pro bono work, including amicus advocacy for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and representing over 100 plaintiffs in the El Monte Thai Worker Slavery Case. Mark has been recognized by Chambers and Partners in commercial litigation and ranked Band 1 nationally in law firm defense since 2024.
