Mark S. Zaid is a highly respected attorney recognized for his expertise in national security, international law, and defamation cases. Mark earned his undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of Rochester in 1989, achieving honors in Political Science and high honors in History. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University in 1992, where he served as Associate Editor of the Albany Law Review. He holds Bar memberships in New York State, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, and Maryland, as well as admission to multiple federal courts. Mark is also known for his commitment to education and public service. He teaches Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses for the D.C. Bar, covering topics such as security clearance defense and the FOI/PA process. As the founder and Executive Director of the James Madison Project, he works to promote transparency in government and educate the public on intelligence operations, secrecy, and national security. Since 2014, he has served as an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University, contributing to the Global Studies and National Security Certificate programs.
