Mark S. Alderfer

Mark S. Alderfer is an experienced trial attorney with decades of practice in insurance defense and complex litigation. He represents clients in matters involving insurance coverage, personal injury, premises liability, and business disputes, providing practical and effective legal solutions across a broad range of cases.

Mark earned a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington in 1980 and a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1983. His education provided a strong foundation for a career focused on litigation and trial advocacy.

Mark was admitted to practice in Indiana and Illinois in 1983, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His broad admissions support his extensive litigation practice.

Mark began his legal career as a Monroe County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney from 1984 to 1986. He has been in private practice for over 30 years, building significant experience in both jury and bench trials across a wide range of legal matters.

Mark has tried over 100 jury trials as lead counsel and numerous bench trials. His practice includes insurance defense, first-party litigation, bad-faith claims, motor vehicle accidents, and appellate matters, as well as real estate, business, and probate litigation.

Mark has been recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer since 2012 and holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been recognized by the Indiana Jury Verdict Reporter as one of the most prolific trial attorneys for over 15 years.
