About
Robert B. King Jr. is a partner at Thompson & King who represents clients in bankruptcy law, personal injury, criminal, domestic, and other legal matters. Since returning to South Carolina after law school, he has built a career focused on helping people solve serious legal and financial problems. He works closely with clients to explain their options, protect their rights, and guide them through each step of the legal process with care, diligence, and a strong commitment to practical results.
Robert earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1984. Before law school, he attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he earned a B.A., graduating cum laude. His undergraduate studies included majors in Government and Economics. This educational background gave him a strong foundation in legal analysis, public issues, and financial matters. It also prepared him to address the legal and economic concerns that many clients face when dealing with debt and other serious problems.
Robert, after being admitted to practice in South Carolina in 1984, began his legal career with a statewide law firm based in Walterboro, where he appeared in courthouses across the state. He later continued his practice in Anderson, serving as an associate and then partner before helping form Thompson & King in 1998. Over the years, he has handled criminal cases, personal injury matters, family court issues, and bankruptcy cases, bringing broad courtroom and counseling experience to clients facing difficult legal challenges.
Robert B. King Jr. maintains that a major focus of his work is helping people find relief from financial pressure and move toward a better future. He has assisted clients in resolving unsecured consumer debts, saving homes from foreclosure, and creating a path toward a fresh start. He is known for approaching legal problems with patience, careful attention, and a solution-focused mindset. Through his work, Robert helps clients reduce stress, understand their choices, and take meaningful steps toward stability, relief, and long-term confidence in their future.
