Mark Decker

Mark Decker, Esq., is a retired founding member of Decker Vonau & Carr, LLC. Over a nearly 50-year legal career, he became a highly regarded attorney in construction law, real estate, business formation, and estate planning. As a leader and mentor within the firm, Mark’s legacy is built on dedication, legal excellence, and service to clients and the legal profession.

Mark earned his B.A. in Political Science from Ohio Dominican University, graduating cum laude in 1970. He received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1973, graduating cum laude and earning membership in The Order of the Coif, a distinction awarded to top law graduates.

Mark practiced law in Columbus, Ohio, with a wide-ranging practice that included construction litigation, mechanics’ lien law, business entity formation and transactions, probate, and real estate. He was instrumental in drafting Ohio’s current mechanics’ lien statutes and frequently lectured on construction and real estate law topics for bar associations and industry organizations.

Mark has also held key leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Columbus Bar Association’s Construction Law Committee and Chair of the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio’s Law Group. He is actively involved in leading industry organizations, with memberships in the Building Industry Association, the American Subcontractors Association, and other prominent construction and subcontractor trade groups.

In addition to litigation, Mark Decker was a skilled arbitrator and mediator for construction-related disputes involving public, commercial, and residential projects. His career reflected a strong commitment to practical legal solutions and client advocacy. Mark’s decades of service shaped Ohio’s construction law landscape and guided generations of legal professionals. His contributions continue to be recognized across the legal and construction communities.
