Mark Cohen

Mark S. Cohen is a founding partner of Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer Baratz, Chair of the Life Science Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. With extensive expertise in patent prosecution, intellectual property strategy, and life sciences licensing, he advises biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies on navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes. His practice includes patent portfolio management, licensing agreements, due diligence, and commercial transactions, ensuring that innovative companies protect and maximize their intellectual assets.

Cohen holds a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law (1993), an M.Sc. in Biology from New York University (1990), and a B.A. in Biochemistry from Rutgers University (1989). He is admitted to the New York State Bar, the Israel Bar Association, and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, enabling him to advise both domestic and international clients in key technology markets.

With a strong background in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, Cohen represents start-ups, Fortune 500 companies, technology transfer offices, and institutional investors. He has served as a board member for biotech firms such as Tarus Therapeutics and Masthercell Global Inc. and was Vice Chairman of Akari Therapeutics (NASDAQ: AKTX), playing a pivotal role in governance and strategic planning.
