Mark A. Kirsch is a partner at King & Spalding’s New York office, recognized as one of the nation’s top litigators. His practice focuses on securities, white-collar, antitrust, and commercial litigation, representing major corporations in high-stakes disputes. With decades of trial experience, he is known for his strategic thinking, courtroom presence, and ability to navigate complex legal challenges.
Mark earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Yale Law & Policy Review, and his Bachelor of Arts with distinction from Cornell University. He clerked for the Honorable John M. Walker, Jr. in New York after law school. His early career included serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, where he prosecuted complex financial crimes. In recognition of his achievements, U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno awarded him the Justice Department Director’s Award for Superior Achievement.
Before joining King & Spalding, Mark was a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he held leadership roles, and previously at Clifford Chance as Global Chair of Litigation. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Friends of Hebrew University, reinforcing his commitment to legal excellence and public service.
Mark A. Kirsch has led numerous high-profile cases throughout his career. He successfully represented Rio Tinto in an SEC suit and class action, securing a historic outcome by eliminating scienter-based charges. He also defended Vale S.A. in major class actions concerning the Fundão dam collapse, obtaining key dismissals and defeating class certification. His exceptional litigation skills have earned him accolades from Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Best Lawyers in America, and Benchmark Litigation, among others.
