Mark A. Besbekos

Mark A. Besbekos has built a legal career spanning decades in the Illinois justice system. Since entering the legal profession in January 1985, he has handled a wide range of criminal matters and developed substantial courtroom experience. His background includes years of public service as well as extensive work representing individuals facing serious legal challenges. Through every stage of his career, he has remained committed to careful case preparation, strong advocacy, and protecting the interests of those he represents.

Mark earned a Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School and graduated in January 1985. Shortly after completing his legal education, he began serving as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County, Illinois. This role provided extensive trial experience and exposure to many areas of criminal law. The foundation established during those early years continues to influence his approach to legal representation today.

Mark served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County from 1985 until 1997. During that time, he worked under Richard J. Daley, Cecil Partee, Jack O’Malley, and Dick Devine. His responsibilities included prosecuting a large number of felony offenses, alcohol related offenses, drug offenses, and sex crimes. Handling hundreds of criminal cases helped him gain valuable insight into courtroom procedures, case strategy, and the prosecution of complex matters.

Mark later transitioned from prosecution to criminal defense, bringing a unique perspective to his practice. Drawing upon years of experience gained in the public sector, he adapted his skills to represent individuals accused of criminal offenses. His understanding of how cases are investigated and prosecuted has become an important asset in defending clients against a variety of charges.

Mark has successfully obtained favorable court outcomes in hundreds of driving under the influence cases, along with numerous felony and misdemeanor matters. Although driving under the influence defense represents a significant portion of his practice, his experience extends across many areas of criminal defense. By combining extensive courtroom knowledge with thorough preparation and strategic representation, he continues to advocate for individuals facing challenging legal situations throughout Illinois.
