Marissa earned a BS in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2009. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in several civic and student organizations, including Students for Barack Obama, College Democrats, New Era Colorado, Campus Press, and Radio 1190. She later received a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2014. While attending law school, she was active in the Civil Rights Clinic, Appellate Moot Court, Criminal Law Review, American Civil Liberties Union, DU Law Democrats, Student Trial Lawyers’ Association, and Public Interest Law Group.

Marissa began developing her legal experience through a variety of public service and legal positions. She served as an Attorney Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice from 2014 to 2016, where she gained valuable experience working within the federal legal system. She then worked as an Asylum Officer with USCIS, Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations Directorate from 2016 to 2018. These roles strengthened her understanding of immigration matters, administrative procedures, and legal decision-making.

Marissa continued expanding her practice as an Associate Attorney in private legal settings before returning to government service. Her experience includes representing clients, analyzing legal issues, and managing matters requiring detailed preparation and advocacy. She has also held leadership responsibilities that reflect trust in her judgment and legal abilities.

Marissa Suzanne Malouff is licensed to practice law in Colorado, with admission granted by the Colorado State Supreme Court in 2014. She is also licensed to practice law in California through the Supreme Court of California, receiving admission in 2017. Her career demonstrates a dedication to public service, civil rights, and thoughtful legal advocacy across multiple areas of law.
