Luke Freedman

Luke Freedman is a civil rights lawyer whose career reflects a strong commitment to public service, civil rights law, and government enforcement. He serves in the Honors Program within the California Office of the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Enforcement Section in Los Angeles. His work focuses on protecting rights, supporting fair treatment, and helping communities receive equal access under the law. Through legal advocacy and public service, he has built a professional record centered on justice, accountability, and meaningful community impact for others.

Luke earned his J.D. from Texas Law, where he developed skills in advocacy, research, and public interest practice. During law school, he strengthened his understanding of complex legal issues through practical training and academic study. He participated in the Capital Punishment Clinic and the Actual Innocence Clinic, gaining valuable experience with real cases and legal procedures. His education emphasized service, problem solving, and the responsible use of legal knowledge to assist people and institutions across diverse public settings effectively.

Luke took active roles in programs that expanded legal access and community support while attending law school. He served on the Justice Center student advisory board and as a board member of the Public Interest Law Association. He also helped organize Change It Up! 2021 and worked as a Pro Bono Scholar on a driver’s license recovery project. These efforts connected individuals with legal assistance and helped remove barriers that affected daily life and opportunity for many community members statewide.

Luke Freedman further developed his experience through public service positions with the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the State of New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender, and the Texas Civil Rights Project.
