Luci R. Wellborn is a Charleston civil defense lawyer and member of Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC. Her practice focuses on construction law, product liability, commercial litigation, insurance coverage and defense, personal injury defense, and mediation. She has more than 25 years of experience handling insurance defense cases and claims at the trial and appellate levels. Her work includes complex matters involving commercial clients, construction disputes, coverage questions, and liability claims.
Luci earned her J.D. from Ohio Northern University College of Law and her B.S. from Old Dominion University. During law school, she served on Law Review and as Associate Justice of the Moot Court Board of Advocates. She belonged to Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and received the Order of Barristers. Her undergraduate activities included the Debate Team and Honor Council. Her academic background supports detailed legal analysis, advocacy, and dispute resolution.
Luci joined Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC in 2006 after serving as in-house counsel for USF&G and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. She represented construction and commercial clients in litigation and advised the Claim Department on day-to-day matters. Earlier, she practiced at Steptoe & Johnson in Charleston, handling product liability, police liability, insurance defense, and personal injury defense cases. She has completed basic and advanced mediation training through the West Virginia State Bar.
