Lorena Rivas

Lorena Rivas is the CEO and a senior attorney at Rivas & Associates, an immigration law firm with offices in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Fort Smith. She represents immigrants nationwide in affirmative and defensive immigration matters. Her practice includes deportation defense, asylum, family-based petitions, green cards, waivers, consular processing, naturalization and citizenship, and other matters involving the U.S. immigration system. She focuses on helping clients understand complex requirements and pursue available legal options.

Rivas earned her J.D. with honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law, where she participated in the Immigrant Rights Legal Clinic. She also received an M.A. from Fort Hays State University and a B.S. from Saint Gregory’s University. Her academic and clinical background provided a foundation in immigration advocacy, legal research, and client representation that supports her work with individuals and families navigating federal immigration laws and procedures.

Rivas has built her practice around representing people facing complicated immigration issues in both affirmative applications and defensive proceedings. She has also served on committees with the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a past chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Beyond direct legal representation, she founded Colegio de Sueños, which provides English as a Second Language and citizenship courses for people working toward U.S. citizenship.

Lorena Rivas received the University of Tulsa College of Law’s Fern Holland Award in 2018 for work involving human rights and the empowerment of women and was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star that year. She was also named to Inc. Magazine’s Female Founders 200 list in 2023. Rivas has completed the Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy and continues to combine immigration advocacy, professional leadership, and community-focused education in her work.
