About
Lisa K. Marso is a partner in Boyce Law Firm’s litigation section with a primary focus on employment, governmental, church, education, and life, health, and disability law. She advises, trains, drafts policies and contracts, conducts investigations, and represents employers and insurers in court and regulatory proceedings. Her clients include employers of different sizes, banks, cities and counties, manufacturers, insurers, franchisors, and health care providers. She handles discrimination, harassment, wage, contract, and insurance-benefit disputes.
Lisa earned her law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law, graduating in the top ten percent of her class. She earned a B.A. from the University of Minnesota, Southwest, graduating summa cum laude. Her strong academic record supports a practice that combines detailed statutory analysis, litigation strategy, workplace counseling, and regulatory work. That training helps her advise on employment laws, benefits issues, municipal matters, education concerns, insurance disputes, and policies affecting organizations with complex workforces.
Lisa has nearly thirty years of legal experience and has represented employers and insurers in administrative, civil, and appellate claims. She conducts workplace training and pre-litigation investigations, assists with labor negotiations and unfair labor practice matters, and handles cases involving Title VII, ADA, ERISA, FLSA, COBRA, and related employment laws. Her litigation experience includes more than twenty trials and nearly fifty matters written or argued before the South Dakota Supreme Court or the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Lisa K. Marso has been recognized by Best Lawyers, Chambers & Partners, Super Lawyers, and Martindale-Hubbell for employment and labor work. She has served as president of the South Dakota State Bar Association and in leadership roles with defense and professional organizations. Her practice combines preventive employment counseling with investigations, training, litigation, and appellate work. She helps employers and insurers manage workplace disputes, regulatory obligations, policy decisions, and contested claims with a focus on clear analysis and practical organizational outcomes.
