About

Lisa K. Barton is a family law attorney with O’Brien, Barton, Leppard & Essig, PLLP in Issaquah, Washington. Her practice addresses divorce and separation, parenting plans, child support, parentage, domestic partnerships, and committed intimate relationships. After many years of litigation, she now concentrates on uncontested matters and solutions reached through mediation, collaboration, or other alternative dispute resolution. She helps clients explore processes for resolving family matters outside contested trials.

Barton graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1994. She began practicing in Issaquah after relocating to Washington following law school. Her legal education and decades of work in family courts provide a foundation for advising on family relationships, financial responsibilities, parenting concerns, and the procedures involved in negotiated family law settlements.

She has more than two decades of litigation experience and is trained in Collaborative Law. Barton serves as a mediator and arbitrator for family law disputes and, when appointed by the court, as guardian ad litem for children, parenting evaluator, or parenting coordinator. Her work includes assisting families with agreements and resolving disagreements regarding custody, support, and parental responsibilities without relying exclusively on conventional courtroom litigation.

Lisa K. Barton volunteers as a Family Law Court Appointed Special Advocate and settlement conference master for King County Superior Court. She also consults with clients through the Eastside Legal Assistance Program. Her professional and volunteer roles connect courtroom experience with settlement processes and child-related evaluations. She focuses on helping families reach informed, sustainable arrangements while navigating sensitive changes in their personal lives.
