About
Lindsey Wilkes is the Managing Partner of Alight Legal PLLC in Washington, DC. Her immigration practice focuses on humanitarian, family, and employment-based matters before U.S. immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and U.S. consulates abroad. She has particular experience representing survivors of violence and torture and handling asylum, family immigration, citizenship, naturalization, and related federal immigration matters.
Wilkes earned a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she was an Arthur Russell Morgan Human Rights Fellow. She previously graduated magna cum laude from Columbia College with B.A. degrees in business administration and communication. During law school, she represented survivors of domestic violence, interned at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and worked on international human-rights and civil-rights matters.
Wilkes founded Alight Legal after working as a consultant and contract attorney on domestic violence and criminal-defense matters. She has also volunteered extensively with the Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition, including service coordinating its pro bono legal program and providing immigration representation to torture survivors seeking asylum. Her work has included hundreds of hours of pro bono service and ongoing involvement with humanitarian immigration cases.
Lindsey Wilkes is admitted in Virginia and Maryland, with her practice limited to matters before federal courts and agencies where permitted. She belongs to the Maryland Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, and American Immigration Lawyers Association and has served in an AILA DC asylum liaison role. Her background in human rights, nonprofit advocacy, and immigration law supports clients facing complex procedural, humanitarian, and family-based immigration challenges.
