Lindsey Halligan

Lindsey Robyn Michelle Halligan is an American attorney focusing on insurance law, property disputes, and high-profile political defense. In September 2025, she was appointed Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia by President Donald Trump, following her earlier role as White House Senior Associate Staff Secretary. Lindsey Halligan earned her B.A. in politics and broadcast journalism from Regis University and her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2013. While in law school, she interned with the Innocence Project and the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office. She began her career at Cole, Scott & Kissane, where she practiced insurance law, focusing on residential and commercial property disputes, and became a partner in 2018.

In 2022, Halligan gained national attention when she joined Donald Trump’s legal team during the FBI’s investigation into classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. She played a key role in Trump v. United States, the lawsuit requesting a special master to review seized documents. Her representation extended to cases such as Trump’s defamation lawsuit against CNN, constitutional eligibility challenges, and attempts to block an indictment regarding classified materials.

By 2025, Lindsey Halligan moved into public service, serving as a senior associate staff secretary at the White House before assuming the role of Acting U.S. Attorney.
