About
Libby Yin Goodknight is an Indianapolis commercial litigator who handles business disputes, appellate matters, class actions, and complex civil litigation. She represents clients in shareholder disputes, restrictive covenant cases, trade secret enforcement, financial institution liability, trust litigation, government contracting, and administrative actions. She has served as counsel in jury trials involving negligence, contract, fiduciary duty, fraud, and toxic exposure. She also guides clients through motion practice and complex appeals nationwide.
Libby earned her J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1998 and her B.S. in Biology from Indiana University in 1995. She served in the Dean’s Tutorial Society and worked as a legal writing tutor. Her education supports her ability to analyze complicated records, develop persuasive written arguments, and address technical evidence. She applies that training across trial, motion, and appellate matters in complex commercial disputes.
Libby previously clerked for three judges of the Indiana Court of Appeals, giving her direct insight into appellate decision-making and written advocacy. She has assisted clients with appeals in state and federal courts across the country and before the US Supreme Court. She has also defended government contracting disputes and a four-week toxic tort jury trial involving alleged physical, psychological, neuropsychological, property, and punitive damages claims in complex civil litigation.
Libby Yin Goodknight has been selected to Indiana Super Lawyers from 2014 through 2026 and was named among the state’s Top 25 Women Attorneys from 2017 through 2019. She serves on the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society board and the Indiana Legal Foundation’s Legal Advisory Committee. She also writes and speaks on appellate advocacy, arbitration, financial services, and employment litigation. Her background reflects sustained leadership in complex dispute resolution and advocacy.
