Lee D. Hoffman is chair of Pullman & Comley and a recognized authority in energy, environmental, and regulatory law. With decades of experience, he advises developers, municipalities, and utilities on the siting and development of power projects, compliance with environmental regulations, and the redevelopment of contaminated properties into productive use.

Lee earned his Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 1991, followed by his Juris Doctor from George Washington University in 1994. Lee further distinguished himself by earning a LL.M. with highest honors in 1996 from George Washington University. This academic background positioned him to become a trusted counselor in complex regulatory and litigation matters.

Lee represents clients before the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, the Connecticut Siting Council, and state and federal environmental agencies. His practice includes advising on the acquisition and divestiture of assets, facility audits, utility rate-making proceedings, toxic torts, and Superfund litigation. His courtroom experience spans trial and appellate work in both civil and criminal environmental cases.

In addition to his practice, Lee makes significant contributions to professional and community organizations. He has chaired key sections of the Connecticut Bar Association, serves as chair of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s Energy and Environment Council, and is active with the Brownfields Coalition of the Northeast. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Recognized widely for his expertise, Lee D. Hoffman has been consistently listed in Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Chambers USA. He has been named Hartford Lawyer of the Year in Energy Law and Energy Regulatory Law and received the Connecticut Law Tribune’s Attorney of the Year award.
